So I missed a week…work can kidnap you from life, it’s insane. Anyways, this week I have He’s My Brother She’s My Sister. A few years under their belt, this Los Angeles band channels folk and indie references, with influences such as the Mamma’s and the Papa’s and The Beatles. I can see their music being fun sing-a-long’s at festivals or in the shower. Strong instrumentals meet the beautiful and unique voices of the vocal leads; Rachel Kolar and her brother Robert. And yes, there is even a tap-dancing musical aspect to this band- making for one of the most unique attributes I’ve ever seen in a group…Check them out further on Spotify or Soundcloud!

love.
I don’t know if it’s her huge doey eyes, or her incredible awkwardness, but I love her, I think we could be friends.

She is super artistic, a visionary, and polite. She lives through creation, and is able to successfully express herself through modeling…i’m obsessed.
I was busy working, and missed my favorite part of the Superbowl— so Hulu put up the best ads from that day http://www.hulu.com/adzone/featured/watch/326390/adzone-bud-light-rescue-dog
As the only sports bar in town, we were packed with spectators. Drunk locals mixed with angry and passionate Pats fans truly makes for an interesting afternoon. Busy running pitchers of the classiest of beers, PBR, I sadly missed most of the game and most all of the commercials. However; I was able to stop and stare as Madonna took to the stage to wow multiple generations of fans. It’s amazing and somewhat creepy how in shape she is, and how her voice and enthusiasm are still mesmerizing. As idolized musicians do best, Madonna somehow turned her scandalous performance with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A into a worldly event as she transitioned into “Like a Prayer.” This was my favorite performance from the Superbowl in a long while. “…When you call my name, it’s like a little prayer, I’m down on my knees…” and then the entire bar sang, “I want to take you there!!…” Ladies drunk off their martinis and Vodka-Cran’s belted out the lyrics they loved and cherished. As the lights transformed into a globe and then into a banner for ‘world peace’, I couldn’t help but giggle. While yes this performance was timeless and loved by all, it turned super cheesy in a matter of moments. It was almost like Madonna was trying to exemplify a message typically pursued by the late Michael Jackson. Now, I am probably just being cynical and too harsh on the pop-queen, but hey that’s what we are supposed to do after the Superbowl; overly critique the performance and every commercial. Overall she did spectacular, it was something for the books for sure; right next to Janet and Justin’s nip slip : )
I love Allison.
